With the launch of iPhone 5 many people started wondering how the 4 inch screen would affect the existing apps and what this all means to the cell phone app developers.
It’s obvious that in the short run many existing apps will be updated to fill the new bigger screen although this is not an urgent task since existing apps still function, however they will ju
st be centered on the new sized screen.
Game developers on the other hand will be delighted with the potential of the iPhone 5’s new A6 processor which Apple claims to be twice as fast as its predecessor. They will, of course, need to adapt to the new graphics to build games that are console quality.
iPhone’s new improved camera will be welcomed by various genres of apps, from augmented reality to barcode-scanners. Although the camera is “evolution more than revolution”, it will be friendly to programmers and the existing apps.
Overall the new hardware will not pose any threats to programmers. In truth, the bigger news, and what programmers need to focus on is the new iOS software. Again, there is no need to panic as developers have been using the beta version of this software since WWDC earlier in the summer.
